Hot Water Heating Systems (Baseboard Heat)

Finned-tube baseboard heat is the the most common type of hot water heat in the United States. Located close to the floor, finned-tube emitters are usually housed in metal enclosures that have reflective material behind them to encourage heat transfer from the fins or slats to the air passing over them, rather than being lost via conductivity through the cold wall behind it. The hot water pipes emerge from the floor and run directly behind the enclosure with thin, metal slats or fins, placed close together all along the pipe. Heat is transferred from the water to the pipe and ultimately to each of these fins. The fins serve as multiple heat emitters, warming the cold air from below. Hot Water Boiler Repair

plumbing washtenaw county

Hydronic boilers are used in generating heat for residential and commercial purposes. The hydronic boiler operates by way of heating water/fluid to a preset temperature until it boils and turns to steam and circulating that fluid throughout the home typically by way of radiators, baseboard heaters or through pipes in the floors. The fluid can be heated by any means...gas, wood, fuel oil, etc, The fluid is in an enclosed system and circulated throughout by means of a motorized pump. Most new systems are fitted with condensing boilers for greater efficiency. These boilers are referred to as condensing boilers because they condense the water vapor in the flue gases to capture the latent heat of vaporization of the water produced during combustion. Hydronic systems (hot water heat) are being used more and more in new construction for several reasons.
